Honda Odyssey Service Manual: Front Door Outer Handle Replacement

NOTE:

  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.

  • Take care not to scratch the door.

  • Use a clip remover to disconnect the outer handle rod.

  1. Raise the glass fully.

  1. Remove these items:

    • Door panel

    • Inner handle

  1. Remove the plastic cover (A) as needed.

    1. Disconnect the door lock actuator/knob switch/key cylinder switch connector (B).

    1. Remove the rear plug cap (C).

    1. Pass the wire harness (D) and the cables (E) through the slits (F) in the plastic cover.

      NOTE: If the plastic cover is damaged or torn, replace it with a new one.

  2. DBCAFEE

  1. Remove the hole seal (A).

  2. A
  1. Release the rod fastener (A), and disconnect the outer handle rod (B) with a clip remover.

  2. BAReplace.??

  1. Remove the bolt, then remove the outer handle protector (A).

  2. Fastener Location? : Bolt, 1A6 x 1.0 mm9.4 N·m(0.96 kgf·m, 6.9 lbf·ft)
  1. Remove the bolt, then remove the outer handle spacer (A).

  2. Fastener LocationA6 x 1.0 mm9.4 N·m(0.96 kgf·m, 6.9 lbf·ft)? : Bolt, 1

  1. Hold the outer handle base (A) and pull out on the outer handle (B) to lower the outer handle weight (C).

  2. CBA??
  1. While holding the outer handle (A) as describe above, lift up on the bottom edge of the handle base (B), and pull it out from the door, then slide the outer handle back to remove it.

  2. ??BA?

  1. Remove the rod fastener (A) from the outer handle (B), then replace it with a new one.

  2. BAReplace.B
  3. Install the outer handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

    • Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the rod is connected securely.

    • Make sure the door lock and the door handle operate properly.

    • Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
