Honda Odyssey Service Manual: Rear Safing Sensor Replacement

Removal

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

  1. Raise both third row seats up, and secure them.

  1. Remove the left and right lower pivot cover.

  1. Remove the center lower pivot cover.

  1. Remove the left and right upper pivot cover.

  1. Remove the center upper pivot cover.

  1. Detach the clips (A), then turn over the carpet (B).

  2. AAB
  1. Remove the cover (A), then disconnect the rear safing sensor 2P connector (B) on the left side wire harness.

  2. ABCD
  3. Remove the TORX bolt (C) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the rear safing sensor (D).


Installation

  1. Install the rear safing sensor (A) with the new TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, and tighten the TORX bolt to the specified torque.

  2. DB11 N·m(1.1 kgf·m, 8 lbf·ft)Replace.E9.4 N·m(0.96 kgf·m, 6.9 lbf·ft)CA
  3. Connect the rear safing sensor 2P connector (C) on the left side wire harness.

  4. Install the cover (D), then tighten the mounting bolts (E) to the specified torque.


  1. Reinstall the carpet (A), and install the clips (B).

  2. BBA
  1. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

  1. Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

  1. Confirm proper SRS operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

  1. Install the center upper pivot cover.

  1. Install the left and right upper pivot cover.

  1. Install the center lower pivot cover.

  1. Install the left and right lower pivot cover.
