Removal

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

  1. Remove the rear side trim panel.

  1. Disconnect the side impact sensor (third) 4P connector (A) on the left or right side wire harness.

  2. Left side

    ABC

    Right side

    ABDC
  3. Remove the TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the side impact sensor (third) (C).

    NOTE: For the right side impact sensor (third), remove the TORX bolt through the gap of the rear HVAC unit (D).


Installation

  1. Install the side impact sensor (third) (A) with the new TORX bolt (B) using a TORX T30 bit, and tighten the TORX bolt to the specified torque.

    NOTE: For the right side impact sensor (third), install the TORX bolt through the gap of the rear HVAC unit (C).

  2. Left side

    DAB11 N·m (1.1 kgf·m, 8 lbf·ft)Replace.

    Right side

    DCAB11 N·m (1.1 kgf·m, 8 lbf·ft)Replace.
  3. Connect the side impact sensor (third) 4P connector (D) on the left or right side wire harness.


  4. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

  5. Clear any DTCs with the HDS.

  6. Confirm proper SRS operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

  7. Install the rear side trim panel.
